Dr. Zia is an Interventional Cardiologist at Toronto East General Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is currently the Chief of Cardiology and Director of Cardiac Services at Toronto East General Hospital. 

 

Toronto East General Hospital has a dynamic cardiology division with a cardiac catheterization laboratory, cardiac intensive care unit, pacemaker implantation program, and a full range of non-invasive diagnostic cardiology services.

 

Dr. Zia specializes in all diseases of the heart, but has a particular interest in coronary artery disease, interventional cardiology and cardiac imaging. He completed a Cardiology and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Toronto, and went on to do an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Subsequently, he did an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship (Level 3 training) in both Cardiac MRI and CT at Columbia University in New York.  He is also certified in Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography.

 

Dr. Zia is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and an Affiliate Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute. His primary research interest is delineating myocardial tissue injury using cardiac MRI post acute myocardial infarction (click here for more information on Dr. Zia's research)
